May Jane Pulmones, 44, was a long-time borrower of Taytay Sa Kauswagan Inc. (TSKI) in Pototan, Iloilo. She borrowed money to help her husband, Meliton, develop their rice farm.
Unfortunately, in 2015, Mary Jane was diagnosed with diabetes which affected her eyesight and a few years later, she developed a long-term complication, leukemia.
Mary Jane had been in and out of the hospital for four years. On 25 July 2019, her doctor told her family that she had little chance of surviving. With consent from the physician, the family decided to bring Mary Jane home where she died six days later.
Meliton, as Mary Jane’s next of kin, was informed by TSKI staff that he was entitled to claim the insurance benefits of Mary Jane under Gold Plan 2, insurance coverage to which she was entitled as a member of TSKI.
After completing the requirements, he received benefits amounting to Php 100, 000.
When asked how the claim money will help him and his family, Meliton said that it will help them pay their debts and commented:
“I only hear good things before about your insurance but now I have personally seen its importance and how helpful it is during this kind of situation.”
